Is Lemon Water the New Anti-Aging Youth Secret?

If you haven't heard yet, lemon water could be the secret to anti-aging your cells.  

Yes, it's true!

According to Cleveland Clinic, making just a tiny adjustment to your daily self-care routine like drinking warm lemon water every morning can yield MASSIVE results in the long term.

Ok, so let's talk about how something as simple as lemon water can be a game-changer...

 

It Gives Your Digestive System A Kick Start


The acid and enzymes in lemon juice help break down food. We already have lots of acid in our stomach, however, the acid in lemons can be helpful in supporting stomach acid levels and even helping rebuild weak stomach acid, which tends to decline as we age. 

The better your digestion, the more nutrients your body receives, which in turn helps your tissues stay younger and more resilient to the aging process.

 

Cellular Re-hydration


Ask yourself honestly if you're drinking enough water.  Unless your urine is running almost clear, you'll need to intake more water.  Hydration is important to the detoxification of your cells and it also helps to "fill" the cells and tissues of your body giving you a more youthful appearance. 

Start with one week of lemon water every day.  Take a photo each day and see the difference.  Chances are you'll be sold on lemon water. 

 

Prevent Cellular Break-down + Oxidation


Lemons contain phytonutrients that help protect your body against infection and disease -- not to mention they slow the aging process of your cells and tissues. These phytonutrients have powerful antioxidant properties, which prevent cell damage from oxidation. 

Oxidation is the exact mechanism that causes rust -- imagine rusting from the inside out....um no thanks!

Juice half a lemon into your water and you’ll get more than 1/6th of your daily recommended dose of vitamin C, which is needed to protect from cell damage and repair injury. 

Our bodies can't function without proper levels of potassium as it's imperative for nerve-muscle communication for movement and muscle activation.  Potassium also helps with the transportation of nutrients, waste, and blood pressure regulation.

 

Supports Kidney Health and Prevents Kidney Stones


Lemon water helps prevent painful stones in those deficient in urinary citrate (a form of citric acid). 

When you're chronically dehydrated you're more at risk for kidney stones.  This painful build-up can block your urinary ducts and if bad enough can put you in the hospital.

 

How To Easily Incorporate Lemon Water Into Your Daily Self-Care Routine

 

Incorporating warm lemon water can be as simple as swapping out your coffee in the morning for later in the day.  Keep in mind coffee is a diuretic and will result in you losing more water.  

So, if you're going to drink coffee...my rule is to drink 1-2 extra glasses of water after as you may lose one to the toilet.  

A couple of other successful ways to incorporate lemon water are:

  • PRECUT + STORE: Buy several lemons, precut them into wedges, and store them in a container in your refrigerator.  That way you already have fresh lemons ready to go in the morning.  Fresh is better than pre-juiced because of the breakdown and oxidation of the lemon juice.
  • JUICE + FREEZE:  If you have more time you can juice all your lemons then pour the juice into silicone icecube trays and freeze.  Once the icecubes are ready, you can remove them from the trays and place them into a plastic freezer storage bag or container for easy access.  Simply heat your water and then drop a frozen lemon cube in...easy peasy!
  • BUDDY UP:  Have a friend or family member join you in drinking warm lemon water in the morning.  Start small with a 1-week challenge, then increase from there.  Make it fun and keep each other accountable.

Each day you choose self-care, you choose yourself...and you can do this by simply starting with warm lemon water in the morning.  

Very quickly you'll notice things like clearer, more radiant skin, calm digestion, a flatter abdomen, less brain fog, and so much more!
